American Oak Chips (Medium Toast) - 200g

American oak chips provide a more intense and aggressive flavour than French oak chips.

Medium toast American oak chips produce a more intense oak flavour including hints of vanilla and caramel.Ā

Oak chips are a fast and economical way to add oak barrel flavour to any beer, spirit or wine without having to wait a year while your product matures in a high maintenance oak barrel.

These oak chips are made from genuine natural oak staves which are open air-seasoned for a minimum of two years, they are then chipped down andĀ toasted to replicate the flavours you'd get from a lightly toasted barrel.

The level of toasting creates different flavours rather than differences in oak intensity, with darker toasting resulting in more caramelised flavour whereas a light toast results in a much more mild flavour being imparted into the beer, spirit or wine.

Dosage rate:Ā 10-15g per litreĀ is suggested, however, the quantity can be varied to produce different flavours and levels of oak intensity.

Contact time: a few days up to 3 months.

Flavour profile: Caramel, vanilla, oak
